What Can I Eat on a Fat Flush Diet?

What Can I Eat on a Fat Flush Diet?

The Fat Flush Diet was developed by nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman and is a weight loss and detoxification program that is based on a low-carbohydrate and restricted-calorie diet. It consists of three phases and is designed to increase metabolism, decrease water retention and lead to loss of fat.

Foods

The diet includes the incorporation of the following foods: 8 oz. daily of lean protein such as lean meat, eggs and fish; fruits and vegetables; omega-3-rich fats such as flaxseed oil; metabolism-increasing spices such as ginger, cayenne, mustard and cinnamon; the "long life cocktail" made up of of 1 tsp. of powdered psyllium husks or 1 tbsp. of ground or milled flaxseed in 8 oz. of half cranberry juice, half water; a gamma linolenic acid, GLA, supplement.

Rules

Rules of following the diet are as follows: only one protein item per meal (except eggs); do not combine fruits and vegetables; do not combine milk and meat; drink fluids between meals only, not during meals; eat once every three hours.

Phases

Three phases make up the diet. Phase 1 consists of a very restrictive detoxification diet that lasts for two weeks. Phase 2 is less restrictive and is continued until a desired weight is reached. Phase 3 is a general low-carbohydrate diet of maintenance and moderation that is to be carried over into eating habits after the diet is finished.
