Hydrotherapy and Weight Loss

Weight loss is a difficult procedure for anybody. Hunger-causing diets and difficult exercise are the death knoll to most weight loss programs. There is one method of weight loss that is becoming popular. Advocates of hydrotherapy allege that it can help you lose 10 to 20 pounds in a few hours.

What Is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is the process in which your bowels will be cleansed of all residue fecal matter. This cleasing therapy will only take a few short hours, if not less. After all the residue has been cleaned from your bowels, you will drop 10 pounds quickly, as someone who has not had this therapy may have up to 10 pounds of residue in his system. This process is also supposed to make you feel cleaner and more healthy in general.

How Does It Work?

A specialist will insert a hose into your rectum. Once it is inserted, water will be pumped into your rectum at a slow, comfortable, but steady rate. This water will pump through your bowels and will begin carrying out the residue that is left over in your bowels. The procedure is simple and only takes a few hours of your time. Once you have left, it is alleged that you will be lighter and feel much better.

How Should I Prepare?

Eat very little for a week before you go to the doctor. This will make it less likely that you will have any new fecal matter in your bowels. Now, 30 hours before your operation, you are to go on a juice fast. You may only drink juice or water in those 30 hours and you cannot eat anything else. This is claimed to help you lose up to five pounds of weight. Once your procedure is over, you are supposed to have dropped 10 to 15 pounds. Slowly reintroduce solid food into your diet, and make sure to keep a safe and healthy diet.

Is It Safe?

Hydrotherapy is relatively safe. Some have complained of rectal irritation, bleeding or swelling after the procedure, but this is rare. Some people are extra sensitive to rectal procedures, and the light flow of water may be too much. This can cause some slight internal bleeding. The water may flow too quickly on accident, or there might be chemicals in the water that are allergenic.

Can I Do It Myself?

You should only have this procedure practiced by a doctor or trained specialist. Though it is an easy procedure, it is too likely that you might hurt yourself if you were to try it yourself. You could run the water too long and injure your rectum and bowels. You might run it too long, or you might use water that isn't safe. The water should be as sterile as possible. Water that you can find in your house will not be sterile enough.
